Concept

The “Culture x Frames” film festival is an inclusive, intercultural cultural project that brings people together and promotes dialogue through film and art. Its goal is to overcome social and cultural boundaries, foster openness, and enable encounters between people from diverse backgrounds.

The festival presents a diverse program over six evenings each year, showcasing the full spectrum of filmmaking—from sports and documentary films to arthouse and short films across various genres. Each evening is centered around a specific theme that connects both the films shown and the accompanying program.

During the breaks, complementary cultural offerings such as exhibitions, small concerts, or performances are presented. This turns the festival into a space for exchange, inspiration, and experiencing cultural diversity.

Throughout the year, each event takes place at a new location in Innsbruck. This is intended to showcase the diversity of the city and its cultural scene. Despite the changing venues, a consistent thread remains—based on the festival’s three core values for its events: quality, diversity, and uniqueness.

A central component of the project is the support of emerging filmmakers. For this purpose, a funding pool is being established to specifically support no-budget films. The goal is to enable creative ideas that would otherwise fail due to financial barriers. The bureaucratic effort for funding applications is intentionally kept minimal.
